BACKGROUND
On February 28, 2023, the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved an Agreement with Geocon Consultants, Inc. (Geocon) for geotechnical investigation, testing and special inspection services for the Napa County Replacement Detention Facility project, PW 20-100. The original scope of work for the Agreement was based on Geocon's assessment of the plans and assumptions of how construction would proceed. While the project is progressing on schedule, special inspections and testing is more intensive that originally anticipated, especially in order to maintain the project schedule. Moreover, additional testing requirements to meet the State fire and life safety regulations were needed, but not originally anticipated in the original scope of work.
As a result, Public Works staff is proposing Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement to increase the amount of inspection time and include the additional inspections related to fire, life and safety. The estimated cost for the additional work is $321,125 and would increase the total, not to exceed, amount of the Agreement to $691,350. Funding for Amendment No. 1 is accounted for in the overall project budget and no additional funding requests are required at this time, however, should unforeseen conditions arise during construction that require additional services, Public Works staff may return to the Board for ano...
