BACKGROUND
The Berryessa Estates subdivision is situated on the northwestern side of Lake Berryessa, in the eastern part of Napa County, and is accessed by Butts Canyon Road and Snell Valley Road. The Berryessa Estates subdivision was established in 1966, and in 2010 all 14 streets were treated with a slurry seal. This unincorporated area experiences hotter summers and colder winters compared to the City of Napa and, as a result, the pavement has suffered from extreme weathering and underlying soil movement. The roadways in the Berryessa Estates subdivision contain excessive vegetation growth, nearby soil erosion, a variety of alligator cracks, block cracks, transverse cracks, reflective cracks, potholes, and rutting. This project will address and repair the roadways, drainage issues, raise utility iron, and upgrade street signs throughout the subdivision. The roadways will be cleaned of debris, coated with a rubberized asphalt chip seal, and topped with a section of hot mix asphalt. This treatment is projected to extend the lifetime of the roadways by at least 18-20 years.
