EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Napa Schools for Climate Action (Napa S4CA) was first founded in 2018 and is a chapter of the Schools for Climate Action organization who are working together towards a common goal of reducing Napa County’s greenhouse gas emission to net zero, by or before the year 2030. Co-Presidents of Napa S4CA will present to the Board regarding climate emergency awareness and a brief overview of Napa S4CA’s current initiative, “Fossil Free Future.”

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

Napa Schools for Climate Action (Napa S4CA) was first founded in 2018 and is a chapter of the Schools for Climate Action organization. This local group is a countywide, youth-led coalition of students, teachers, faculty, local government leaders, and community members from across Napa County and NVUSD who are working together towards a common goal of reducing Napa County’s greenhouse gas emissions to net zero, by or before the year 2030.

Napa S4CA works on various projects designed to implement climate-conscious changes in everyday life and serves the community through volunteering, outreach, educational opportunities, and much more. Representatives from Napa S4CA will provide a brief overview of the group’s goals and accomplishments thus far, share details about climate emergency resolutions, and showcase their current initiative, “Fossil Free Future.” Co-Presidents of Napa S4CA will be present to answer questions from the Board of Supervisors.
