EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Presentation of a proclamation to Kara Vernor, Executive Director of Napa County Bicycle Coalition, declaring May 2022 as "Bike Month" and May 20, 2022 as "Bike to Wherever Day" in Napa County.

Since 1956, the month of May has been recognized across the United States as "National Bike Month," with community-sponsored celebrations as a means to make our cities and towns more bike-friendly for everyone.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
Presentation of a proclamation to Kara Vernor, Executive Director of Napa County Bicycle Coalition, declaring May 2022 as "Bike Month" and May 20, 2022 as "Bike to Wherever Day" in Napa County.

Since 1956, the month of May has been recognized across the United States as "National Bike Month," with community-sponsored celebrations as a means to make our cities and towns more bike friendly for everyone.

Pre-pandemic, "Bike to Work Day (BTWD)" was a celebration of bicycles as a fun and healthy way to get to work, as well as an opportunity for those who don't usually bike commute to try it out. It was also a time to advocate for improved bicycle infrastructure and safety.
