EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
If approved, this request will extend the term of staffing resources at the Napa County Probation Department which were included in the Budget Act of 2019 by the California Judicial Council (to the Napa County Superior Court) through June 30, 2022. The Court is required to contract with Napa County's Probation Department to perform required services. The positions are State funded under the scope of the award, and are earmarked for new Pretrial Programs that protect the public, and safeguard the rights of defendants by ensuring the fair and efficient administration of justice in pretrial decision-making.

The proposed positions are 100% funded through June 30, 2022 by a State funding source included in the Budget Act of 2019 and SB 129 (Stats. 2021 Ch.69)

Discretionary Justification:
The 2019 Budget Bill language designates that the required services tied to the grant award can only be performed by county probation departments. To meet the obligations of the grant, current staffing must be extended to continue supporting this mandate.
