BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

Resolution No. 99-56 adopted by the Board on June 1, 1999 authorizes the Director of Library Services and Community Outreach to accept donations of money and gifts of $2,000 or less on behalf of the Napa County Library. The Library Director must obtain authorization from the Board before accepting donations greater than $2,000.

On September 9, 2021, the Library received funds from the Rotary Club of North Napa for the Ozobot Robot and the Code and Go Robot Mouse program. The Ozobot and the Code and Go Robot Mouse lab program is designed to introduce the concepts of coding and programming to school-aged children using programmable robots. The Library will purchase the Ozobot and the Code and Go Mouse, markers, paper and another supplies needed to complete the project.

Children will draw lines and color in codes as they navigate the direction of the robot. This approachable hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activity encourages collaboration, creative thinking, problem solving, spatial relations, computational and sequential thinking. The program works well for school-aged children and teens.

Rotary Club of North Napa has provided $2,400 to support this learning program and will have Rotary volunteers assist the Napa County Library with its implementation.
