BACKGROUND
This is an agreement with the City of Calistoga for immediate response to emergency incidents in areas of Napa County adjacent to the City of Calistoga. In the event of an emergency in areas of Napa County that are adjacent to the City of Calistoga, personnel and equipment from the Calistoga Fire Department (CFD) may provide an enhanced response to the emergency incident when CFD is available. This new agreement considers that, at times, personnel or equipment may be in service to other emergency responses within the City of Calistoga, which will be treated as a higher priority on their part. In those instances, the County will still provide emergency services.

Napa County has benefited from a long-standing agreement with the City of Calistoga to provide these services. Similar agreements have also existed with the South Lake County Fire Protection District and the City of St. Helena. The County has embarked upon a consistent compensation methodology for all three agreements, based upon the rate letters between each of these jurisdictions and Cal OES. These rate letters establish an agreement between the individual jurisdiction and Cal OES for the use of fire apparatus and personnel during emergency events. The County is using these rate letters to establish hourly compensation to use their equipment and personnel during emergency responses inside the Napa County jurisdiction.
