BACKGROUND
County Fire Currently has five capital assets on its inventory list in need of surplus. These items have been removed from service and are no longer required for use and are not being used. With approval of today's action, these items will be declared surplus. The SFW Chem Pro 100 monitor will be sold at public auction while the other items have already been disposed of through the shop fire or taken to a landfill.
Asset No. 27330, a SFW Chem Pro 100 Air Monitor, is used to aid the county hazmat team with identifying hazards such as chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals. This detector was purchased in June of 2009, and the vendor no longer produces the replacement parts for repair or operation, making it difficult to continue with serving the current machine. The machine has outlived its useful life.
In June of 1992, a customized fire engine was built to place in the "new" county station in southern Napa, now known as Greenwood Ranch Station. During this time, when customizing an engine, plans were drafted and engineered. The cost of doing so would then be passed on to the consumer, resulting in Asset No. 26350-1, Plans for E27. A cost of $5,431 was paid by the county for this process. These plans are now outdated and are no longer useful or relevant in 2025.
