BACKGROUND
The Executive Assistant-CEO role has evolved beyond routine administrative support to provide high-level, confidential executive support for both the Chief Executive Officer and the Assistant Executive Officer. The position requires substantial independent judgment, discretion, and initiative. Updated duties now emphasize serving as a liaison with departments, stakeholders, and constituents, conducting research and analysis, troubleshooting complex or sensitive issues, preparing strategic communications, and coordinating high-priority calendars, travel, and follow-through with minimal oversight.
These responsibilities closely parallel those of the Staff Assistant I-Board of Supervisors, which provides direct staff support involving constituency services, research, liaison work, and administrative support requiring knowledge of governmental processes and the exercise of independent judgment on confidential matters. Aligning pay with the Staff Assistant I-Board of Supervisors range and moving the classification from a Confidential position to an at-will, Non-Classified (Other) management position is appropriate to reflect the elevated complexity, decision-making authority, and impact of the position.
The increase in salary and benefits for the remainder of the fiscal year is approximately $6,710 which is fully covered by salary savings due to vacancies within the CEO’s Office.
