body
BACKGROUND
The Napa County Fire Department currently has Holmatro Extraction Equipment (capital asset numbers: 26901, 27019, 28018, and 28019) that have outlived their useful life and have become outdated. The extrication equipment was originally purchased more than 10 years ago which makes it difficult to obtain parts to provide maintenance and upkeep.
Vehicle Extrication Tools aid personnel in the process of removing a vehicle from around a person when conventional means of exit are impossible or inadvisable. The pump function of the current tools has been replaced with battery powered options, freeing up space and allowing to function without the use of a generator. Making them more compact and lighter to maneuver.
Today's recommended action will allow the capital assets to be deemed as surplus and no longer required for public use as well as authorize their removal from the County's capital asset list for them to be disposed of at public auction.
