BACKGROUND
The Agricultural Commissioner's Office needs a total of three vehicles be added to their fleet to satisfy State mandated tasks. The department hired a new inspector for the Weights & Measures division, resulting in the need for an additional vehicle to perform inspections throughout the County. The California Department of Food & Agriculture (CDFA) donated two trucks to the department in the early 2000's to aid in the pest detection trapping program. As these trucks are over 20 years old, they are dilapidated and unsafe for staff to drive. Replacement of the trucks is necessary to maintain an effective county-wide pest trapping program before the trapping season begins in March. Funding will come from the Weights & Measures Special Revenue Fund and additional funding from the State for Unclaimed Gas Tax.
The vehicles will become part of the Napa County Fleet Program, and the Ag Commissioner-Sealer will be charged for operations, maintenance, and replacement accordingly in future years.
