BACKGROUND
Assembly Bill 372, a pilot program, effective July 1, 2019 through July 1, 2022 authorized the counties of Napa, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Yolo to offer an alternative program for individuals convicted of domestic violence. The bill requires alternative programs meet specified conditions, including that the county performs a risk and needs assessment and includes components which are evidence-based or promising practices, as defined. The bill also requires a county that offers a program pursuant to these provisions to collect specified data and report to the Legislature.
Probation has partnered with the Regents University of California (UC Regents) to provide criminal justice data to assist in linking local data with state criminal history to explore the statewide recidivism outcomes for domestic violence probationers.
This Amendment No. 1 revises information to be submitted to UC Regents from 2018 to 2016.
