BACKGROUND
The Chiles Pope Valley Bridge Replacement Project, RDS 15-23 is scheduled to begin construction in late March or early April, and construction management services are required. Bureau Veritas was selected as the most qualified candidate by a two-step RFQ/RFP process to provide these services which includes onsite construction, inspection, and contract management. Biological inspections, labor compliance, coordinating between the contractor, permit agencies, engineers and County are part of their scope of work.
Biggs Cardosa Associates, Inc. designed the project, prepared the bid documents and is needed for engineering construction services. It is an industry practice for the design consultant to answer contractor requests for information, approve material submittals, and provide engineering services during construction. The scope and fee for this was not included in the original agreement because, at that time, the exact design solution is not known.
The Napa County Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining 78 bridges that are included in the National Bridge Inventory. The County built the Chiles Pope Valley Road Bridge in...
