BACKGROUND

MCE Clean Energy is a fully operational not-for-profit Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program serving 37 communities in 4 Bay Area Counties. A CCA acts as an alternative energy procurer to PG&E, providing consumers with an option to purchase energy that is 60%-100% generated from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, water, and biopower, etc. The role of MCE is to choose from where to purchase power and to create a mix that meets the goals of the program, providing clean, local energy while ensuring customers a stable and competitive price.  Other components of PG&E services (such as power transmission, billing, etc.) continue for all customers. Consumers who are not interested in consuming power procured by MCE may opt out and continue to use PG&E.
