BACKGROUND
There is currently one opening on the Napa County Child Care and Development Planning Council due to a vacancy. The County Executive Office advertised the vacancy and received one appointment request from Princess Okieme.
The purpose of the Napa County Child Care and Development Planning Council (the Council) is to assess Napa County childcare needs and develop plans to address those needs. The Council is committed to the belief that all children in Napa County have the right to experience a safe, healthy, and nurturing childhood with equal access to community services and support. The Council shall collaborate to foster public and private partnerships to maximize family and child development resources through coordination and collaboration. The Council was created by Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 98-14 on February 10, 1998, to consist of twenty members, with ten members appointed by the Board of Supervisors and ten appointed by the Napa County Superintendent of Schools, the composition of which had to include the following:
* 20% Consumers of Child Care - parents or persons who receive, or who have received within the past 36 months, childcare services.
* 20% Child Care Providers - persons who provide childcare services or represent persons who provide childcare services, reflective of the range of childcare providers in the county.
* 20% Public Agency Representatives - persons who represent a city, county, city and county, or local education agency.
