RECOMMENDATION
title
Adopt a Resolution to amend the Table and Index of Classes to update the bargaining unit for the Sheriff's Facilities & Fleet Services Coordinator, effective July 6, 2024. (No Fiscal Impact; Discretionary)
body

BACKGROUND
Human Resources received a reclassification request from the Sheriff's Office for the Sheriff's Facilities & Fleet Services Coordinator classification. A study was conducted by Human Resources which found the incumbent to be working within scope of the classification specification. When the classification was created, supervisory duties were contemplated and included in the classification specification. Supervisory duties were not necessary or performed when the position was created, which resulted in finding that the Sheriff's Facilities & Fleet Services Coordinator shared the same community of interest with the Public Service Employee's bargaining unit.

Last fiscal year, two Building Maintenance Worker positions were added to the Sheriff's Office's departmental allocation list. Once filled, these two positions reported directly to the Sheriff's Facilities & Fleet Services Coordinator. Now that the Sheriff's Facilities & Fleet Services Coordinator is supervising Building Maintenance Workers, the classification shares a community of interest with other County supervisory classifications. Human Resources recommended a change from the Public Service Employee's bargaining unit to the Public Service Employee's Supervisory bargaining unit. This recommended change requires an update to the Table & Index of Classes.
