SUBJECT: Appointing Commissioners to Female Farmworker Housing Ad-Hoc Committee

RECOMMENDATION
title
Appointment of one or two commissioners to serve on an ad-hoc committee focused on strategic planning for female farmworker housing.
body
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The three county-owned farmworker centers (Centers) have historically housed single, unaccompanied male farmworkers in dorm style housing (2 per room). The maximum occupancy at each Center is 60 lodgers or 180 beds total across the three sites. Recent data from the 2024 Napa County Farmworker Housing Needs & Impacts Assessment revealed that the farmworker labor force is approximately 9,000 strong, and female farmworkers account for approximately 20% of the labor force. On September 24, 2025, the Housing Commission directed staff to develop an ad-hoc committee with the goal of further evaluating and/or exploring potential options for female farmworker housing at the county-owned farmworker centers (Centers).
