BACKGROUND
The County of Napa has provided animal services to the City of Napa since 1995. The Sheriff's Office assumed field operational duties in 1998. Animal Services Officers are responsible for impounding animals found to be in violation of county ordinances, investigating animal bites, acts of cruelty against animals, and assisting sick, injured, or stray animals. Funding from the City of Napa covers at least two Animal Services Officers, 7 days a week, during business hours and one Officer on call for emergencies and holidays during all other times.
Amendment No. 9 to Agreement No. 180024B meets the expectations for both parties and provides cost certainty for 3 years. During the term of this agreement July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027, the total cost for animal services as set forth in the amendment is as follows: FY 2024-2025: $410,455; FY 2025-2026: $423,795; FY 2026-2027: $437,568. This amendment was approved by the City of Napa on May 7, 2024.
Requested Action:
Approve and authorize the Chair to sign Amendment No. 9 to Agreement No. 180024B with the City of Napa for the first term July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, with an automatic renewal clause for two additional years for animal services within the city's municipal boundaries.
