BACKGROUND
On February 27, 2024, the County entered into Agreement No. 240283B with Bureau Veritas to provide construction management, inspection, materials testing, labor compliance, and related construction support services for the Chiles Pope Valley Bridge Replacement Project.
On April 8, 2025, the Board approved Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 240283B, increasing the contract maximum to $1,205,925 to provide additional construction support services associated with contractor claims, difficult drilling conditions, project administration, and final project closeout activities.
The Chiles Pope Valley Bridge Replacement Project construction was substantially completed during 2024; however, several project closeout activities remain ongoing. These activities include contractor claim resolution, final documentation, Caltrans reimbursement coordination, environmental mitigation coordination, and final project administrative closeout.
During construction, the contractor submitted claims related to harder than anticipated drilling conditions which required additional review, coordination, inspection, documentation, and construction administration services by the construction management consultant.
