BACKGROUND
During the winter storms of February 2025, intense rainfall and flooding in Redwood Creek caused the failure of a portion of Redwood Road at mile post marker 2.3 (near 3510 Redwood Rd.). Floodwaters undercut the creek bank adjacent to the roadway, causing the westbound lane to fail and slide toward Redwood Creek. The damaged roadway currently presents a safety hazard and restricts the long-term reliability of this important rural transportation route.
The project will repair the failed roadway section and restore full use of Redwood Road. The work generally consists of constructing a soldier pile retaining wall, stitch piles, roadway excavation and reconstruction, and installation of guardrail.
On April 28, 2026, the Board of Supervisors approved the plans and specifications and authorized Public Works to advertise for bids. The project was subsequently advertised for bids. Bids were publicly opened on June 2, 2026.
