Approve and authorize Amendment No. 4 to Agreement No. 160092B with The Permanente Medical Group Inc., for the term of June 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, with two additional one-year extensions to provide occupational health and safety medical services including pre-employment physical examinations and annual fitness screenings for County employees. (Fiscal Impact: $125,000 Expense; Fund dependent upon department usage; Budgeted; Discretionary)
body
BACKGROUND
Since 2016, The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. has provided the County with occupational health and safety services, including pre-employment physicals, annual fitness screenings, and return-to-work evaluations. Their large network and standardized operations allow candidates to access pre-employment physicals across Northern California.
This Fourth Amendment to Agreement No. 160092B extends the contract and raises the maximum annual compensation from $75,000 to $125,000. This is not a guaranteed sum, as compensation depends on services rendered. Human Resources, in consultation with County Public Health and Safety, reviewed tuberculosis tests and will now offer a faster, more efficient option. Should departments choose the new test option, costs increase by approximately $125 per test and time to hire can be reduced. Additionally, the June 1, 2025 effective date of the contract is required due to an increase in use towards the end of FY 24-25 for County Fire.
Requested Action: Approve and authorize Amendment No. 4 to Agreement No. 160092B with The Permanente Medical Group Inc., for the term of June 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, with two additional one-year extensions.
