BACKGROUND
Since Fiscal Year 2014-2015, Sheriff's Office has provided Napa County Office of Education (NCOE) with a Deputy Sheriff as a School Resource Officer (SRO). The SRO provides campus safety at Juvenile Court and Camille Creek Community School. Juvenile Court and Camille Creek Community School, located on Imola Avenue in the unincorporated area of Napa County, services the educational needs of students who are under the protection or authority of Juvenile Court or those who are referred from school districts due to truancy, behavioral issues, or expulsion. The goals of providing an SRO are to create a safe and drug free school, promote positive social skills and healthy development of youth. The SRO duties include substance abuse prevention, early intervention, violence prevention, implementation of safe school policies and community partnerships. NCOE has once again requested renewal of the revenue agreement to provide funding to the Sheriff's Office, which offsets the cost to place a Deputy Sheriff as an SRO.
Request Action:
Approve and authorize revenue Agreement No. 170821B with the Napa County Office of Education for a maximum of $130,416 to place a Deputy Sheriff as a School Resource Office at Juvenile Court and Camille Creek Community School during the 2026-2027 school year.
