BACKGROUND

The Agreement provides funding for as-needed biohazard cleaning services at the Napa County Department of Corrections.

Steri-Clean Oakland will provide the following services: 

Steri-Clean Oakland shall be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for on-site cleaning and containment of biohazardous waste at the Napa County Department of Corrections.

Services shall include but are not limited to the mitigation and remediation of bodily fluids, viral contaminates and other infectious diseases/wastes.

Requested Action:

Approve and authorize Agreement No. 250001B with Steri-Clean Oakland for a maximum of $120,000 for the term of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027, with an automatic two-year renewal for as-needed biohazard cleaning services.

This as needed service will be budgeted accordingly in future fiscal years

Consequences if not approved:

The Department of Corrections will be out of compliance with various health codes. Internal staff are not certified in biohazard waste cleanup. In addition to certification, a vendor would be needed for proper disposal after cleanup.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION: The proposed action is not a project as defined by 14 California Code of Regulations 15378 (State CEQA Guidelines) and therefore CEQA is not applicable.
