body
BACKGROUND
The Board of Supervisors may allocate community grant funds for non-profit support and community benefit. The purpose of this allocation is to make a student art contest possible, to provide an opportunity for students in District 5 to gain recognition for their artistic talents and support their pursuit of higher education. The contest will be open to students in grades 6-12 who reside in District 5, allowing them to submit artwork in categories such as painting, drawing/sketch, photography, or mixed media. The contest will offer scholarships to the top three winners and to a People’s Choice selection. The funds will cover the cost of scholarships as well as the expenses for running the contest. The American Canyon Arts Foundation (ACAF), a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will administer the contest, providing students with an opportunity for professional recognition while fostering their educational aspirations. The contest will be free to enter, and open to all eligible students residing within District 5.
