BACKGROUND

The Napa County Housing Authority (Authority) contracts with HCI Systems Inc. (HCI) to perform fire system inspections and monitoring at the three county-owned farmworker centers known as the Calistoga, River Ranch, and Mondavi Centers (Centers). Routine inspections have identified the need for critical repairs to the commercial kitchen hood systems at the Calistoga and Mondavi Centers and the fire pump at the Mondavi Center.   

Requested Action:
1. Approve and authorize Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 230047B with HCI Systems, Inc. increasing the contract maximum by $23,290 to a new maximum of $51,170 for routine and non-routine or emergency services and replace Exhibit A (Scope of Work) with Exhibit A-2.

Discretionary Justification:

Repairs to the fire protection system are a matter of health and safety for staff and lodgers living at the centers.

Ongoing routine inspections and preventative maintenance. 

Consequences if not approved:

If the amendment is not approved, fire system will be out of compliance and increased risks.  

 

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION: The proposed action is not a project as defined by 14 California Code of Regulations 15378 (State CEQA Guidelines) and therefore CEQA is not applicable.
