body
BACKGROUND
CalFire St. Helena Emergency Command Center provides Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD) services to Napa County using Priority Dispatch, one of the most advanced widely used, scientifically backed, emergency call processing system. The computer software Pro QA takes these EMD protocols and integrates them into the Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system. This integration streamlines the EMD service provided to the citizens and allows critical medical information to be shared with responding resources allowing responders to better prepare for the medical emergencies to which they are responding.
The annual license/maintenance agreement allows access to technical support 365 days a year and maintains the medical protocols and software to the latest version allowing the Emergency Command Center to keep up with the changes in emergency medicine. Over the last several years, there have been multiple changes in protocol and tools surrounding the medical world and the EMD protocol and software has been updated to match those changes providing the highest level of pre-arrival instruction and care to the Napa County citizens and first responders. EMD also allows dispatchers to give pre-arrival instructions to the 911 caller such as CPR instructions, bleeding control and even childbirth.
Today’s approval will increase the annual maintenance amount by $3,430 for a new maximum of $10,630 and extend the term to June 30, 2024. Administrative delays by the vendor delayed presentation to the Board.
