Approve out of state travel for District Attorney Allison Haley to Dallas, Texas from August 11 - 15, 2024 to attend the 36th Annual Crimes Against Children Conference. (Fiscal Impact: $3,000 expense; General Fund; Budgeted; Discretionary).

BACKGROUND

The District Attorney, will attend The Crimes Against Children Conference, the largest conference of its kind with participants globally, to obtain further practical and best practice instruction for fighting crimes against children and helping children of crime to heal. 

The conference is targeted for government and nonprofit agencies in the fields of law enforcement, prosecution, children’s advocacy and those whose intent is to help children with their healing process.

District Attorney Haley, will be in a position to share the knowledge gained from this conference with the Napa law enforcement agencies, Attorney’s, the Victim Advocates, the Napa Courage Center and the Monarch Justice Center staff.

Requested Action:

Approve out of state travel for District Attorney Allison Haley to Dallas, Texas from August 11 - 15, 2024 to attend the 36th Annual Crimes Against Children Conference.

District Attorney Haley will share knowledge acquired from the conference with local law enforcement agencies, attorney’s, victim advocates, and nonprofit agency partners.

Consequences if not approved:

The County of Napa will miss the opportunity to participate in information sharing that is targeted at protecting and healing some of our most vulnerable in our community, our children.

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION: The proposed action is not a project as defined by 14 California Code of Regulations 15378 (State CEQA Guidelines) and therefore CEQA is not applicable.
