BACKGROUND
The Agreement provides funding to offset a Probation Officer salary assigned to the Community School providing probation services to students classified as court wards. NCOE operates Camille Creek Community School for juveniles in accordance with applicable California law. The Chief Probation Officer assigns a Probation Officer (PO) to hep supervise wards of the Juvenile Court attending school.
The PO’s duties include the following: monitor compliance with terms and conditions of probation court wards, investigate absences when requested by teachers; respond to teacher requests for assistance with students posing disruptive behavioral problem; and provide counseling/monitoring to status offenders.
Probation has had an agreement with NCOE since fiscal year 2015-2016 to offset the salary of the PO assigned to the Community School.
Requested Action:
Approve and authorize Agreement No. 250006B with the Napa County Office of Education (NCOE) for a maximum of $7,000 for the term of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, with an automatic one-year renewal to offset a portion of the cost of a Probation Officer assigned to the Community School.

There is no mandate to place a Probation Officer at a school however, the Probation Department benefits by having an Officer assigned to NCOE to supervise wards of the court attending Community School This revenue offsets salaries and benefits for the 1.0 FTE Officer funded by General Fund. |

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION: The proposed action is not a project as defined by 14 California Code of Regulations 15378 (State CEQA Guidelines) and therefore CEQA is not applicable.
