BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
In June of 2021, the Board adopted the 21/22 fiscal year Fire budget, which included a fixed asset amount of $40,033 to purchase vehicle extrication tools replacing current extrication equipment that has outlived its service life and is need of replacement. Hydraulic rescue tools are used by emergency rescue personnel to assist in the extrication of individuals in vehicles accidents, as well as other rescues in small spaces. These tools include cutters, spreaders, and rams.
The original request submitted in March of 2021 totaled $40,033. Due to unforeseen rise in costs, the tools have now increased to $43,251, (difference of $3,390 which includes tools, tax, and shipping). County Fire is requesting approval of a Budget Transfer, which will increase appropriations in the Equipment accounts (55400) within the Fire Budget (Subdivisions 2100016, 2100021, 2100024, 2100038, and 2100027) decreasing expense accounts within the same Subdivisions with no net change to the Fire Fund.
Today’s action authorizes the Chair to approve a budget transfer to adjust multiple Fire Subdivisions listed above to accommodate actual costs.
