EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Senate Rules Committee currently leases office space for Senator Bill Dodd at 2721 Napa Valley Corporate Drive. The lease term expired on November 30, 2020 and the State remains in possession of the Leased Premises creating a month-to-month tenancy. Approval of Amendment No. 1 will extend the term and enable Senator Dodd to continue to use this space through February 28, 2025, with a new base monthly lease amount of $676 and a new monthly custodial charge of $157.

Approval of this amendment will generate revenue for the County.

Future fiscal impact:

There will be continued revenue through the term of the lease.

Consequences if not approved:

Senator Dodd will remain in the space on a month-to-month tenancy or the lease will be terminated and Senator Dodd will not be able to occupy the space.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION: The proposed action is not a project as defined by 14 California Code of Regulations 15378 (State CEQA Guidelines) and therefore CEQA is not applicable.

 

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

On December 20, 2016, the County entered into Lease Agreement No. 170685B with The Senate, California Legislature to provide approximately 593 sq. ft. of district office space to Senator Dodd at the County’s South Campus Facility with weekly custodial services.
Approval of Amendment No. 1 will extend the term of the lease through February 28, 2025, and increase the base monthly lease amount to $676 and monthly custodial charge to $157, for a total monthly charge of $833.
