BACKGROUND

The Board of Supervisors may allocate community grant funds for nonprofit support and community benefit. The purpose of this allocation is to support four local nonprofits.

The first is VOICES, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides young people aging out of foster care with family-like support, acceptance, and accountability as they set their own goals and pursue them across VOICES’ youth-led core programs. The amount of $1,000 of Board of Supervisors’ District 4 community grant will be used to invest in the programs VOICES provides to the vulnerable youth in our community.

The second is ParentsCAN, a grass-roots nonprofit with a vision to support families who have children with special needs through case management, peer support, and parent education. The $500 of Board of Supervisors’ District 4 community grant will be used to continue these efforts.

The third is Napa Valley Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps all of Napa County prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies. The amount of $1,000 of Board of Supervisors’ District 4 community grant will be used to continue these efforts.

The fourth is Puertas Abiertas, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, that serves as the gateway for access to health and social services, a culturally appropriate service provider to Latino families, and a collaborator with a wide variety of community partners. The amount of $1,000 of Board of Supervisors’ District 4 community grant be used to continue these efforts.
