BACKGROUND

The recommended budget for cemetery operations appropriates revenues collected primarily through property tax, sale of burial rights, and interest earned. Napa County Public Works administers MPCD operations, including sales of burial rights, burials, landscaping, general maintenance, and administrative services.

The MPCD recommended FY 2024-25 cemetery operations budget (2860) includes estimated revenues of $56,077 and appropriations of $55,748. Revenues include property tax allocations, charges for services, transfers from the endowment fund, and interest earnings. Expenditures include County Counsel legal services, landscape maintenance and repair, waste services, general operations, and administrative costs.

The endowment fund budget (28610) includes estimated revenues of $2,600 and appropriations of $12,000.

The MPCD Advisory Committee at its February 7, 2024, special meeting, unanimously approved the recommended FY 2024-25 recommended budget.
