Accept a donation in the amount of $50,000 from the Friends of the Napa Library and sign a letter of appreciation. (Fiscal Impact, $50,000 Revenue; Napa County Library Fund; Budgeted; Discretionary)

BACKGROUND

Board of Supervisors adopted the Napa County Library policy, Section 29, authorizing the Library Director to accept on behalf of the Napa County Library donations in the amount of $2,000 or less, and up to $10,000 by Friends of the Library groups to support existing Library services and programs.
Director of Library Services and Community Outreach seeks the Board's approval to accept a donation in the amount of $50,000 from the Friends of the Napa Library. The donation will help fund projects and programs provided to the community at the Napa County Library.
Requested actions:

1.                     Accept a donation in the amount of $50,000 from the Friends of the Napa Library; and

2.                     Authorize a letter of appreciation in acceptance of the donation.

Where is it budgeted?

The donation is budgeted in the library’s Napa Library budget, Org 2020001, revenue line item 47500 - Donations/Contributions

Discretionary

Discretionary Justification:

Deposit of donations into the specified library location budget will facilitate fiscal monitoring and ensure that donation spending will be consistent with the intent of the donors

Is the general fund affected?

No

Future fiscal impact:

None. Donated funds will be utilized in the current fiscal year.

Consequences if not approved:

If the requested action is not approved, the library will not be able to accept the $50,000 donation to help fund projects and programs provided to the community at the Napa Library

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION: The proposed action is not a project as defined by 14 California
Code of Regulations 15378 (State CEQA Guidelines) and therefore CEQA is not applicable.
