Approve and authorize allocation of Board of Supervisors’ District 1 community grant funds to Mentis’ Blue Skies Ahead, Rock the Ride’s Benefit Ride & Walk for Gun Violence Prevention, Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation’s Dia de la Familia, Cinco de Mayo Golf, and LGBTQ Connection to provide support and community benefit. (Fiscal Impact: $5,000 Expense; Budgeted; General Fund; Discretionary)

BACKGROUND
The Board of Supervisors may allocate community grant funds for nonprofit support and community benefit. The purpose of this allocation is to support five nonprofit’s mission.
The first is Mentis, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, a community-based mental wellness focusing on prevention to treatment. The amount of $1,500 of Board of Supervisors’ District 1 community grant will be used to fund the “Ripple Sponsorship” in Mentis’ Blue Skies Ahead event. This sponsorship will invest in Mentis services, including early intervention, outpatient treatment, and residential treatment.
The second is Rock the Ride USA, a Benefit Ride & Walk for Gun Violence Prevention, where all proceeds will go to three beneficiaries: Giffords Law Center, Moms Demand Action, and Alaina's Voice Foundation. The amount of $1,000 of Board of Supervisors’ District 1 community grant will be used fund the “Friend Sponsorship” in Rock the Ride USA benefit. This sponsorship will donate to all three beneficiaries equally focused on gun violence prevention.
The third is Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to support and promote Napa Valley’s vineyard workers through education and professional development. The amount of $1,000 of Board of Supervisors’ District 1 community grant will be used to sponsor Dia de la Familia, an annual community-building event celebrating and providing resources to Napa Valley’s farmworkers.
The fourth is Cinco de Mayo Golf, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, that funds several vital projects at Napa County’s three publicly owned Farmworker Housing Centers that are not covered in the County’s Farmworker Housing operational budget. The amount of $500 of Board of Supervisors’ District 1 community grant will be donated. This donation will be used to the needs of migrant farmworkers, which may include items such as capital building repairs, commercial kitchen equipment, beds, lockers, landscaping supplies, as well as health and social services.
The fifth and final recipient is LGBTQ Connection, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, that supports underserved LGBTQ youth and elders. The amount of $1,000 of Board of Supervisors’ District 1 community grant will be used to fund Napa Pride 2025. LGBTQ Connection is dedicated to creating a culturally diverse and informed community that amplifies the voices of queer and trans youth, peers and elders.
Requested Action: Approve and authorize allocation of Board of Supervisors’ funds for nonprofit support and community benefit.
