SUBJECT: Surplus of a SCBA Compressor and Fill Station

RECOMMENDATION
title
Authorize to declare capital asset No. 27331, a SCBA compressor & No. 27325 a SCBA fill station, as surplus and no longer required for public use, remove them from inventory, and dispose. (No Fiscal Impact; Discretionary)
body
BACKGROUND
The Napa County Fire Department has a Bauer Maxi Verticus SCBA Compressor (Asset No. 27331) and SCBA Fill Station (Asset No. 27325), that have outlived their useful life and have become outdated. In 2009, the Department purchased the compressor and fill station.
The SCBA Compressor and Fill Station are used as integral part of our SCBA equipment. SCBAs are worn to provide independent supply of breathable air in environments that are immediately dangerous to life or health, such as those with oxygen deficiency, smoke, or toxic gases. Once the SCBA cylinders have been drawn down, the compressors and filling stations are essential for ensuring the SCBA cylinders are properly refilled with clean, compressed air. These stations are designed to meet National Fire Protection Association standards (NFPA). CAL FIRE purchased a replacement compressor.
Today’s recommended authorizes for Capital Asset No. 27331 and Asset No. 27325, to be deemed surplus, removed from the County’s capital asset list, and disposed of by way of general disposal.
