BACKGROUND
The County operates and maintains a large variety of facility types that require architectural services to support projects. Many Capital Improvement Projects require multiple different specialties that exceed Public Works’ capacity and expertise. Under the services provided by Nacht & Lewis and its subconsultants, the County has access to multiple specialties, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural, all of which are vital to the maintenance of County facilities.
On February 8, 2022, staff released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for On-Call Architectural/Engineering and other related services for various County Facilities. After ranking and interviewing each firm’s Statement of Qualifications (SOQ), the County selected Nacht & Lewis and COAR Design Group, Inc. as the most qualified firms to provide these services.
On May 3, 2022, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement No. 220317B with Nacht & Lewis Architects, Inc., authorizing up to $500,000 per fiscal year for on-call architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering design services. In order to continue delivering projects that maintain and renovate County Facilities, staff is requesting approval of Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 220317B to increase the maximum compensation from $500,000 to $750,000 for fiscal years 2025-26 and 2026-27.
Requested Actions:
1. Approve and authorize Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 220317B with Nacht & Lewis Architects, Inc. to increase the maximum contract amount per fiscal year from $500,000 to $750,000.
