body
BACKGROUND
The Sheriff’s Facility, constructed in 2005, is now showing signs of deterioration, including paint failure, cracking of the exterior insulation and finish system (E.I.F.S.), and aging of the roof. To address these issues, the project will include site visits, review of existing documents, condition testing of walls and roof, preparation of a preliminary recommendations report, and development of repair plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Architectural Services
Nacht & Lewis Architects, Inc.—selected under the County’s 2022–2027 On-Call Architectural Services contract—will perform site investigations and prepare design and construction documents. The scope of work includes rehabilitation of the facility’s exterior envelope, which may involve, but is not limited to, the following:
- Removing and replacing bird netting
- Power-washing the facility and surrounding hardscape
- Repainting the exterior (three existing E.I.F.S. colors) and painting miscellaneous metal and exposed structural steel, including car canopies
- Replacing gutters and downspouts
- Applying water repellents to CMU surfaces
- Investigating the existing single-ply roofing system, preparing an assessment with recommendations, and assuming full replacement of the roof and flashing at curbs, parapets, and other roof elements
Requested Action:
Approve and authorize Agreement No. 260125B with Nacht & Lewis Architects, Inc. in the amount of $385,020 for design and construction administration services.
