RECOMMENDATION
title
Approve a Budget Amendment for Project 25032, “2025 Oakville Grade Railroad Crossing Repair, RDS 25-101;” and authorize the payment of an invoice for work completed. (Fiscal Impact: $4,866 Expense; SB-1 Non-Operating Special Revenue Fund; Not Budgeted; Discretionary)
[4/5 vote required]
body
BACKGROUND
The Public Works Department maintains 420 miles of roads in Napa County. The Napa Valley Wine Train owns and operates the rail system throughout the valley. Where the two systems interconnect there is a shared responsibility for maintaining the roadways where the tracks cross various public roads. The paved area around the tracks that cross Oakville Grade was significantly deteriorated, and the Wine Train had track maintenance to do in the area. We agreed to work together to accomplish both tasks, and to split the costs equally.
The engineer’s estimate for the project was $120,000, though the project was completed for $104,148. The Board previously approved a County share payment of $47,209, from SB-1 funding. The Board previously approved the $47,209. One additional invoice for the project has been received, resulting in the need to further appropriate $4,866 to fully fund the County share.
Requested Actions:
1. Approval of Budget Amendment for the following (4/5 vote required):
a. Increase Transfers Out appropriations by $4,866 in the SB-1 Non-Operating Special Revenue Fund (Fund 2440, Sub-Division 1220052, Account 56100) offset by use of its available fund balance to transfer to Project 25032; and
b. Increase Construction Services appropriations for the “2025 Oakville Grade Railroad Crossing Repair”, RDS 25-101 (Fund 2040, Sub-Division 2040500, Project 25032) by $4,866 (Fund 2040, Sub-Division 2040500, Project 25032 Account 52360) offset by a transfer-in revenue from SB1-SRF.
