EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Today the Agency Manager and UVDS staff will provide an overview of the rate setting process as defined in the Franchise Agreement, and a preview of the upcoming months. Our goal today is to educate and inform the Board, and get any input they have on specific program changes they may have interest in. Numbers are not yet available for discussion.
UVA staff asked that the following programs be included for consideration in the rate package:
1. We assume going forward that there will be savings in processing some recycling materials in Ukiah (fewer employees, less equipment). We understand there will also be costs (trucking and paying for processing). Can you please breakout these savings and costs so the Board can understand the long term rate benefits of the change?
2. Can you please include a curbside batteries and bulbs program for residents for Board consideration?
3. Can you please include a commercial e-waste program for Board consideration?
4. Can you please include the costs for paying for universal waste disposal at the free recycling area at CFL (thus no longer asking UVA for reimbursements)?
UVDS's presentation materials are attached.
Standing Items for this agenda item:
1. Communications with customers/upcoming events.
2. Other happenings of interest to the Board.
